Roschelle,Yes, it is sad that your colleagues did not share in your joy in an historic moment in history. I can tell you that this white dude did! My wife (who is Jewish and knows something about discrimination) and I shared in the tears that were being shed by many Americans of all races and creeds that night. I was glued to the television as I watched the crowd celebrate from Grant Park in Chicago. I never thought this day would come. How proud would Dr Martin Luther King have been? All I can say about the deafening silence is that it a mystifying to me. Particularly, since much of the silence comes from those who call themselves Christians. My Christianity tells me to embrace people from all walks of life. Those who sit in silence are the folks who cling to their wedge issues rather than celebrate the implications of a much broader and significant cultural shift. I feel sorry for those who sit in sadness and silence because their pet issue no longer resonated as that important in the scheme of things. Thanks for sharing, and here's a fist-pump for you! LOLThanks for taking the time to read. very appreciative
